After 42 years at Glenray, Greg is ready to enjoy a well-earned retirement
After more than four decades, 29 April 2026 marked the final shift for Supported Employee Greg Moss at the Glenray Laundry. The milestone was celebrated during his last shift, with the team coming together to share stories and present Greg with a plaque recognising his many years of dedication.
Greg began his journey in 1984 at just 18 years old, starting at Glenray Industrial Services, then known as Bathurst Wood Products. Keen to get started, he quickly found a passion for woodworking and enjoyed meeting new people along the way. For years he was part of the team creating pallets and bed bases for local Bathurst businesses.
In 2020, Greg made the move to the Glenray Laundry, where he took on the opportunity to learn new skills across different areas of the business. He especially enjoyed working at the folding station and getting to know the machinery.
Over the years, Greg became known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature. Supported Employee Coordinator Melissa Powell shared, “Greg was always up for a chat and loved sharing stories about staff who had come and gone over the years. It really showed how much history and connection he has with the place. We wish Greg all the very best as he eases into retirement. You have truly earned it and you will be greatly missed.”
Greg's journey was not without its challenges. Greg stood strong alongside his team during the devastating fire of 2006 that destroyed the Industrial Services building - and he stood besides them again contributing to the rebuild that followed. This is just one example of the challenges and proud moments of Gregs career and demonstrates the resilience and loyalty Greg has shown throughout his time at Glenray.
Glenray CEO Scott Green said, “Greg made a huge contribution during his 42 years and will be missed by his friends and everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside him.”
As he steps into retirement, Greg is looking forward to a slower pace, with plans to sleep in, travel, and spend more time with friends at the day program.
He leaves with a heartfelt message for his coworkers. “I just wanted to thank every single person I’ve worked with. You’ve helped me a lot and given me so much support since I first started. I’m very thankful.”
After 42 years, Greg leaves behind not only a long career full of contributions, but a legacy of connection, resilience and kindness he has shown to all those around him. The impact he has had on the people around him will be felt at Glenray for years to come.
