The Glenray Gap Year is a 12 month program that provides young people with comprehensive training to best prepare them for entering the disability support industry, or just lifelong skills transferable across any career.
During the program, students not only earn an award based wage they also develop skills in first aid, medication, conflict resolution and work towards a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

From Classroom to Real Life Application
Throughout your Gap Year you’ll receive practical training in first aid, medication support, conflict resolution and person-centred practice, all from our experienced team.
You’ll get to use these skills in real life situations as you work directly with our participants.

Earn While You Learn
Glenray Gap Year Students earn award-based wages throughout the 12 month program; meaning that they can focus on their learning without having to juggle more work commitments.

No Two Days are the Same
Students will have experience in multiple areas during their Gap Year; from our group homes to our day programs to our social enterprises.
This not only gives you experience in different areas of support but also ensures that no two days are ever the same.

Nationally Recognised Qualification
In partnership with Registered Training Organisation VERTO, after the program students receive their Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

Students are also exposed to the world of care, working on soft skills such as communication, empathy and teamwork.

It’s a 12-month program that combines full-time paid work in disability support with studying for a nationally recognised Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability). You earn a wage while building hands-on experience and completing your qualification.

The GAP Program is primarily designed for recent high school graduates and early-career individuals ready to step into the workforce
You must be eligible to work in Australia, have your drivers license, and pass standard background checks (such as a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check).

No prior experience is required! We look for empathy, reliability, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to help others.
All necessary training and support are provided throughout the 12 months.

You will earn a competitive hourly wage under the relevant industry award rate for trainees, including superannuation and penalty rates for shift work or weekend shifts where applicable.

Your study is integrated directly into your working schedule through a blended model—a mix of hands-on workplace training, online coursework, and dedicated study time supported by our registered training organisation (RTO) VERTO.

No. The training fees for your Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) are fully covered as part of the placement, meaning you graduate qualified with zero student debt.

You won't be thrown into the deep end alone. You’ll complete a comprehensive orientation period, work alongside experienced mentors, and have dedicated supervisors checking in regularly to support your personal and professional growth.
You will also work closely with Glenray’s Clinical Support Manager for your clinical training

After completing the program, you will hold a Certificate III qualification. From there, you can:
Continue working with us in a ongoing support role
Use your qualification and experience to apply for further studies (e.g., Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Speech Pathology)
Travel or take your National qualification anywhere across Australia—disability support skills are in high demand nationwide.
