Glenray Gap Year 2026 Students with Clinical Support Manager Pnina Smith

12-month paid program gives Bathurst school leavers a direct entry into disability support while completing a Certificate III qualification.

Glenray has officially opened applications for its 2027 Gap Year Program, offering local school leavers the opportunity to earn award-based wages while completing a nationally recognised qualification in disability support.

Now entering its third year, the 12-month program blends paid employment with training delivered in partnership with Registered Training Organisation (RTO) VERTO. Participants work toward achieving a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) while gaining practical experience as Disability Support Workers across Glenray’s services.

Key Program Highlights

  • Earn While You Learn: Paid employment at award rates throughout the entire 12-month program.

  • Nationally Recognised Qualification: Experience travels with them with a Nationally recognised Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

  • Essential Skills: Practical training in medication management, first aid, clinical support, conflict resolution, and person-centred care.

  • Hands-on Experience: Work directly with participants across Glenray’s accommodation and day program services.

  • Local Career Pathways: Creates long-term healthcare and community service job opportunities within the Central West region.

Designed to address both regional youth employment pathways and the growing demand for qualified care workers, the program equips students who may be uncertain about university or traditional apprenticeships with practical skills, workplace confidence, and job security.
