Improving accessible living for people living with disability in our community

Glenray’s latest project two new accessible homes at Glenray Village in Kelso is complete.

The new homes, a 4 bedroom home ‘Casuarina’ and a 1 bedroom unit ‘Gungarra’, are purpose built to National Construction Code (NCC) accessible living standards ensuring the home is accessible for people of all abilities.

With 1 in 5 Australians currently living with a disability, there is a significant need in our community to create more suitable living options and build homes that suit their needs. The Australian Government identified a gap in suitable housing options for people living with disability, and last year released their Australian Disability Strategy 2021-2031 that outline several key objectives one of which was for ‘People with disability to live in inclusive, accessible and well-designed homes and communities’

Glenray, is a local not for profit organisation and have been committed to providing supported independent living accommodation for around 60 years and continue to provide new opportunities for people living with disability in the community to live the life they choose.

‘These new homes are at the forefront of modern accessible living for the region and are a welcome addition to our supported accommodation services’ says General Manager, Kath Graham. ‘Glenray is committed to people of all abilities having the right to access homes suitable for their needs. These homes will provide this opportunity for more people in our community to access inclusive, accessible housing.’

These modern, spacious homes are designed to suit a wide variety of needs of people living with disability and people wishing to access NDIS supported independent living in this new home are invited to inquire at info@glenray.com.au and book a tour of Casuarina & Glenray Village.

Glenray Village itself sits in a prime location overlooking Bathurst with stunning views back towards Mt Panorama and provides a unique friendly village atmosphere with gardens, sport and BBQ facilities and a community hall available to residents.
